The Net of the Gospel: No One Escapes the Call
We live in a world where people think they have endless time to choose Christ. Many are comfortable living in sin, thinking judgment is far away or will never come. But Jesus teaches us in the parable of the net that a day is coming when the net will be pulled to shore, and every person will be separated—righteous from unrighteous. The need is urgent: we must examine our lives today. Are we truly in Christ, or are we just caught in the net but not transformed? God’s patience is mercy, but His judgment is certain.
It was in 2010 When I was caught in the Net of God. He was calling me to Himself. The call was so strong that it compelled me to look for a church. Although my early life didn’t appear “wicked” to others, I was living in sin, far from God. Twice, God miraculously saved me from death — yet I continued to struggle deeply. Many saw me as cursed and beyond hope, but by His grace, God chose a wretch like me.
I was spiritually dead, but through Christ Jesus, He made me alive. I still remember my first church service — the Holy Spirit convicted me so strongly that I wept over my sins against God and my parents. I had never experienced such deep conviction before. That day, I made a promise to God to serve Him and turn away from my old ways.
The Parable of the Net (Matthew 13:47–50)
In this parable, Jesus explains that the Kingdom of God has already begun, and God is already at work—though often in invisible ways—through His Son Jesus Christ and His servants, to restore a broken world filled with sin and evil. He works through us, His people, to accomplish His mission.
In the previous parable (the weeds), we learned that evil sometimes looks as though it has won. Yet behind the scenes, God is allowing evil to exist for a certain duration in order to fulfill His purpose and will. But this will not last forever.
In God’s perfect timing, He will judge Satan, evil, sin, death, and all who reject Him. They will be cast into the lake of fire. Then His justice will be fully established through Jesus Christ, and His Kingdom will shine in righteousness forever.
Jesus brought down the kingdom of God to us; The Lord's prayer may your kingdom come and will be done on us. From Jesus the word of God was brought to us. Which is the gospel. And the gospel from God is so powerful and strong as a net which catches big fish. Even though the net is narrow it is strong and powerful. Other characteristics of a net, it is invisible in water and fish cannot see it, but they are caught.
The same we can't see how God is working behind the scenes but yet his power and strength is seen when men are being transformed by the gospel. It is interconnected the same way God uses his servants to spread the gospel in unity. It is wide and used repeatedly, the same way the gospel is used to save a lot of people repeatedly, only the gospel saves men no other way men can be saved. Allows fishermen to catch many fish at once, the same way the gospel saves a lot of people at once e.g. acts 2 3000 men were saved in a day.
God has appointed a time for judgment. The question is: Have you placed your faith in Jesus Christ?
Only through Jesus can we be saved and spared from eternal condemnation.
Salvation is by grace alone, through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Right now, God is patiently gathering His people. The reason you are alive today is because of His mercy. He does not want you to perish but to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Don’t live a lukewarm life with one foot in the church and the other in the world. Come to Jesus. He will forgive you, transform you, and give you new life. Just as He changed me—setting me free from destructive habits—He can set you free too. He has power through the Holy Spirit to deliver you from sin, whether it is alcohol, drugs, sexual immorality, pornography, or masturbation. Jesus said, “Whoever comes to Me I will never drive away” (John 6:37). Today, surrender your life to Him. Trust Him fully. He will cleanse you, save you, and make you new.
The net of the gospel has gone out into the world and is still gathering fish. The question is: Have you truly been caught and transformed? Are you allowing God’s Word to cleanse you and make you more like Christ? Or are you still holding onto the dirt of your old life?Because one day, the sorting will come. The righteous will be gathered into God’s Kingdom, and the wicked will be cast away. The time to surrender is now.
