Am I a Person of Integrity?
Beloved, today we gather to talk about something very important in our Christian walk: the full armor of God.
The Bible tells us in Ephesians 6:11:
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
This verse reminds us that the Christian life is not a playground—it is a battlefield. Whether we like it or not, we are in a spiritual war. The devil is real, his demons are real, and his mission is clear: to steal, to kill, and to destroy.
That is why we cannot walk in our own strength, wisdom, or cleverness. We need the armor of God. And more than that, we need Christ Himself, because the armor is simply a picture of Jesus:
He is the Truth.
He is our Righteousness.
He is our Peace.
He is our Salvation.
He is the Author of our Faith.
And through Him, we have access to God in prayer.
Without Christ, we are naked in this battle. But with Him, we are strong, protected, and victorious. And today, we will focus on the first piece of armor: the belt of truth.
1: The Need for the Armor
Paul says in Ephesians 6:12:
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” This means our fight is not against people. Your enemy is not your boss, not your neighbor, not your spouse, not even your family. The real battle is spiritual.
And because the battle is spiritual, our weapons must also be spiritual. That is why Paul tells us to put on the armor of God. But listen carefully: you cannot wear this armor unless you belong to Christ. If you don’t know Jesus, you are like a soldier going into war without any protection. Before you can put on the armor, you must put on Christ.
2: The Belt of Truth
Paul says in Ephesians 6:14: “Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist.” Now, why does he start with the belt?
In Paul’s time, a soldier’s belt was what held the entire armor together. Without the belt, everything else was loose. The breastplate, the sword, even the shield would be hard to carry without the belt.
In the same way, truth holds the Christian life together. Without truth, our faith becomes weak, our witness becomes compromised, and our hope becomes shaky.
But what is truth? The Bible shows us two sides:
1. The Word of God – Jesus said in John 17:17, “Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.” The Word of God is the foundation of truth. And in John 8:32, Jesus said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”
2. A Life of Integrity – Truth is not just something you read; it’s something you live. Paul describes it in Ephesians 5:9: “For the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth.”
So the belt of truth means two things: knowing the truth of God’s Word and living a life of honesty and integrity. You cannot separate them.
3: Why We Need the Belt of Truth
We need the belt of truth because only truth can set us free.
Paul warns in 2 Thessalonians 2:9–10 that many will perish because they refused to love the truth and instead believed lies.
That’s how the devil works—through lies and deception. Think about Jesus in the wilderness. The devil came quoting Scripture. But what did he do? He twisted the Word of God, hoping to deceive Jesus. But Jesus stood firm because He knew the truth of Scripture.
And today, many people are being deceived. The devil has entered even into churches. The true gospel is not being preached. Instead, many pulpits are filled with prosperity preaching, motivational talks, and half-truths that tickle the ears but do not save the soul. Beloved, we need the truth of God’s Word. Without it, we are defenseless. With it, we can expose lies and stand firm.
4: The Belt of Integrity
But let’s go deeper. The belt of truth is not just about knowing the Bible—it’s about living the Bible. Many of us know the Scriptures but fail to live them out. We can quote verses but live without integrity. The devil uses this weakness. He knows if he corrupts our integrity, he has found a gap in our armor.
Ask yourself today:
Am I a person of integrity?
Do I live truthfully at home, at work, at school, and even in secret?
Do I walk in honesty before God and before men?
Beloved, the devil trembles when he sees a Christian who not only knows the Word but lives it.
Conclusion
So, what have we learned today?
The Christian life is a battle, and we need the full armor of God. The belt of truth is the foundation of that armor. Truth means knowing the Word of God and living in integrity. Without truth, everything falls apart. With truth, we can stand firm against the devil’s lies.
Let me challenge you today:
Do you know the truth of God’s Word?
Do you live in truth and integrity?
Have you put on Christ, the Truth Himself?
Beloved, let us put on the belt of truth every day, so that we may walk in victory and not be deceived by the enemy.
Closing Prayer
“Lord Jesus, we thank You for being the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Today we ask You to help us put on the belt of truth. Teach us to love Your Word, to live by it, and to walk in integrity. Protect us from the lies of the enemy and strengthen us to stand firm in this spiritual battle. May Your truth set us free and keep us safe in You. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.”
